Welcome to Headington Haven, your home from home in the quiet suburbs of Oxford.
It is easy to get to us by public transport, just a comfortable 14-minute walk from the most convenient bus stop, the Gladstone Road or Green Road Roundabout stop.
Getting to Headington from the London Airports
London Heathrow and Gatwick
We are well-connected to London Heathrow and Gatwick airports by the Airline coaches, operating around the clock. The bus service doesn’t need to be booked in advance; you can pay the driver by card or cash.
The nearest stop is the Gladstone Road stop on that route.
London Luton and London Stansted
The National Express service runs route 737 between London Stansted and Luton airports and Oxford’s Central bus station, Gloucester Green upto 8 times a day. It’s recommended to book these tickets in advance, as National Express tickets are not a set price, but rise with demand.
Once in Oxford, a short walk takes our guests to the local bus’ stop to catch a bus that runs up through Headington. (Check Google maps for directions and suggested bus routes).
Pro Tip: Buy a round-trip ticket to save money if you’re returning from the same airport soon.
Pick-Up Service
We may be able to offer a lift from Thornhill Park and Ride for a small charge. This needs to be agreed upon at least 24 hours in advance.
Getting to Headington from Central London
From the London, you have 2 public transport choices. The train, or the Oxford Tube coaches.
By Train:
The swift 40-45 minute train ride to Oxford is a premium choice. For the best deals, book off-peak tickets, outside commuter rush hours.
Once you arrive at Oxford Train Station, hop on the X7 or X8 just outside the station and take it to the Gladstone Road stop in Headington. Then it’s a comfortable 10-14 minute walk to us.
You can choose to walk from the train station, we are a bit over an hour’s, picturesque, walk ( as we are on the other side of the city centre from the station.)
By Coach:
The Oxford Tube offers an economical alternative, with departures every 10-15 minutes from several stops in Central London from London Victoria. The travel times vary greatly, depending on the time of day, due to traffic.
From Oxford City Centre:
Bus Option 1: The number 15 bus to Wood Farm brings you within an 8-minute walk. This route is slightly less frequent and has fewer traffic hold-ups once outside St Clements.
Bus Option 2: Alternatively, consult your map app and you can choose from several buses heading up through Headington, to disembark at the Gladstone Road or Green Road Roundabout bus stop for a comfortable 14-minute walk amidst the quaint streets.
VOI Scooter: Oxford is one of the few places in the UK where electric scooters are allowed, but only VOI’s scooters. To start your journey, download the Voi app and set up an account, if you don’t have one already. (You have to be at least 18 years old and have a valid driving license.) Once you’re set up, use the app to locate a scooter- They’re easy to spot with their distinctive coral colour.
You can ride on roads, cycle lanes, and shared cycle/footpaths within the trial area but not on pavements. The designated parking bay for the scooters is a minute’s walk away from us on Old Road, which you’ll find on the app’s map
Arriving by car:
We’re just off the Ring Road, near the Headington Roundabout. (…but, don’t worry, we are a world away from the noise of the busy ring road.)
Parking can be found in 2-hour visitor bays opposite our home, and it is free during weekends and evenings.
Or you can book a spot on our driveway for peace of mind, for a nominal fee.
We look forward to welcoming you to Headington Haven.
